City Escape: Augusta, Maine

This City Escape route takes you from Augusta, ME, on a loop along US 1, also known as the Atlantic Hwy. In addition to showcasing the rugged coastline, it also lets you enjoy Maine’s inland views.

The ride starts with a brief southward stint from August along SR 9, which skirts the Kennebec River. You’ll continue onto SR 194 and SR 218, a duo of lazily meandering two-laners that take you on a laid-back ride through farms, fields, and a couple of historical curiosities.
