ADV Gear at the Right Price

ADV Gear at the Right Price

If you’re a dual sport rider who combines twisty pavement with technical trails, then you should check out the Tourmaster Adventure Lite Mesh jacket and pants.

I first tested this versatile gear in southeast Ohio last fall. There’s no shortage of curves in that part of the country, but a particular highlight is the Wayne National Forest with its super fun trail system.

With chilly mornings and evenings, together with hot midday temps, I needed protective gear that would keep me comfortable and safe all day. The Adventure Lite delivered.

The Jacket and Vest

To keep the price point low, you don’t get any liners with the jacket. That’s fine, because that’s how most gear comes nowadays. Plus, I prefer to wear my own puffer jacket as a liner to keep me warm.

CE Level 1 back, shoulder, and elbow armor are included. I removed them all and instead wore off-road-oriented armor, like the Tourmaster Armanox CE Body Protector, underneath.

When hitting the trails, I want my armor to fit snugly. There’s nothing worse than the elbow armor wrapping around to the front, exposing your elbow in a fall.

Since I chose this type of setup, I ordered the jacket to fit on the smaller side. I’m 6 feet, 2 inches, and usually wear a large size in everything. Here, I opted for medium. If I were to add an airbag underneath, then I would have sized up.

The beauty in the jacket is its simplicity. There are no fancy hooks and snaps, pockets all over, or bold colors or graphics. It features just enough pockets, including a large one on the back.

420D polyester panels combine with the mesh shell to offer you plenty of airflow and abrasion-resistant areas where you need them most.

The coolest feature, however, is that you can zip off the sleeves to turn the jacket into a vest. I took off the sleeves after a few technical sections in Wayne National Forest. I was still protected by my body armor, and I donned a jersey underneath.

Not having sleeves provided even more airflow, but, most importantly, it restricted my arms even less. Having flexibility and full control was fantastic off-road.

The Pants

Constructed of the same materials as the jacket, the pants are a solid companion that completes the getup. The classic-looking black pants won’t offend you with unnecessary pockets or wild designs.

Stretch panels in the crotch and knees allow you to move around the seat and pegs. The hook-and-loop waist adjusters ensure a tight fit, and the leg openings are adjustable. They’re big enough to pull them over my off-road riding boots, but not designed to go inside the boot. You can surely cram the pants into your boots, but it’ll muffin-top on ya.

I loved the side pockets, located on both the lower left and right. It was super easy to get into it, but a little bit more fabric would have been nice for the contents.

Hip and knee armor are included with the pants. Again, since I used this gear during a technical trail ride, I took those out and wore Bohn armored pants underneath. Although I usually wear a size 33 or 34, these worked well in size 32/Small.

Together, the Tourmaster Adventure Lite Mesh jacket and pants have become a solid choice for my action-packed adventure rides. I love the clean look and simplicity, and rocking the vest instantly gives me more racing credibility.

The gear comes with a four-year warranty.
