KTM Reveals New 2027 690 Rally ADV Motorcycle

The KTM 640 Adventure was the Austrian brand’s popular and tough, if temperamental, ADV machine. It left the company’s catalog in 2007, but recently KTM has been teasing a return to the adventuring tradition.

Now, that return is here in the form of the 2027 KTM 690 Rally. The manufacturer touts this machine as a spiritual successor to the 640 Adventure.

The new 690 Rally is based on the previous 690 Enduro R platform. In fact, the bike remains unchanged in many ways, adding long-range usability to the proven base.

KTM’s additions in the 690 Rally include a tall rally tower with an integrated windshield. A new 4.2-inch TFT screen at the foot of the tower allows access to bike information, ride modes, and navigation. The rally-style display is compact and doesn’t obscure the view of the road.

With the new display have come additional electronic goodies. The 690 Rally comes with Street and Off-road ride modes. An optional Rally mode (allowing free adjustment of traction control and throttle response) is available separately. The bike also features cornering-ABS and traction control, and slip control with the Rally mode.

To allow you to go farther, the 690 Rally incorporates a split fuel tank that increases the bike’s fuel capacity to 5.28 gallons (versus the Enduro’s 3.5 gallons).

Otherwise, not much has changed from the Enduro. The 690 Rally’s power comes from a 692cc single-cylinder engine that produces 77 ponies and 53 lb-ft of torque.

The fork is a 48mm inverted WP Xplor unit with 10.43 inches of travel. As a slight difference, the WP Xplor shock has variable travel, unlike in the Enduro. The fork has compression and rebound adjustability, while the shock allows you to adjust compression, rebound, and preload.

Brake components are the same, with a 300mm disc with Brembo dual-piston calipers in the front and a 240mm disc with a single Brembo caliper in the rear. The motorcycle’s dimensions are the same (36.8-inch seat, 10.4-inch ground clearance), but the dry weight has increased by about 22 pounds to 365 pounds. Add a few pounds extra once you fill the big fuel tank.

The 2027 KTM 690 Rally will be available from October 2026 in a white/orange/blue color scheme. No MSRP was announced at the time of writing.
