City Escape: Fort Worth

The area surrounding Fort Worth may not be the most renowned motorcycling area in the country, but you can still have a great ride in it. This City Escape route takes you on a calm, all-paved cruise around the city.

You’ll start by heading south, where you’ll find expansive rural views. Zigzagging farm roads featuring sharp 90-degree turns carry you through vast farmland rolling far off into the distance, with the big blue sky above you.

As you pass the town of Mineral Wells (famed for its mineral wells, surprisingly), the scenery grows more arid. That’s a bit paradoxical, considering the route skirts two bodies of water: Possum Kingdom Lake and Lake Bridgeport. The SR 114 bridge crossing the latter affords a brief but welcome over-the-water vista before you head back to Fort Worth.
