City Escape: Los Angeles

Like the Rock Store in Malibu and Newcomb’s Ranch on the Angeles Crest Hwy, the Rock Inn is a fabled motorcycle destination. With multiple different routes offering narrow twisties, high-speed sweepers, and even lengthy sections of dual sport dirt, alongside a handful of top-class dining options, it is a classic Los Angeles getaway destination.

The evocative freestone structure has been there since 1929, sitting on a Native American footpath and later stage coach route that once formed a major trade route between the Los Angeles Basin and the oil- and agriculture-rich San Joaquin Valley. Along with the National Forest Inn, Reservoir Summit, Kelly's Half Way Inn, Tumble Inn, and Sandberg's Summit Hotel, it was one of many way-stations for travelers—and it’s the only one still in business.

This ride starts at downtown LA’s Bike Shed Moto Co. It’s becoming a very popular start-finish location for local riders. The freeway takes you on a 30-minute ride to the Little Tujunga Canyon and the launching point to exciting riding.
