Arkansas Dragon: A Short but Twisty Beauty Spot

Arkansas Dragon: A Short but Twisty Beauty Spot

What makes a dragon? If you ask a normal person, you need a big reptilian monster, a pair of wings, and the ability to breathe fire. Ask a motorcyclist, though, and they’ll say a dragon needs lots of curves.

By that definition, SR 123 deserves the nickname of the Arkansas Dragon.

It’s also the definition of “short but sweet.” Although SR 123 is only 15 miles long, covering the distance between SR 7 north of Pelsor and Mt. Judea, every foot of it is packed with twists, thrills, and spectacular views.

Near the road’s northern terminus is a series of tantalizing, technical hairpins. They’ll put your skills to the test as you ascend (or descend) the steep mountainside.
