Schuberth Announces New Lightweight S3 Carbon Helmet
Schuberth has announced a new version of its popular S3 helmet. The S3 Carbon promises to be a lighter helmet with additional safety and convenience features.
As the new helmet’s name implies, Schuberth has swapped the standard S3’s basalt-reinforced fiberglass construction for a 100% carbon shell. The company states it produces the helmets using the same manufacturing process as its Formula 1 helmets for a high-performance product.
The laminated carbon shell, together with new EPS material, provide improved shock absorption during impact. For added safety, the helmet also features Schubert’s anti-roll system to keep it securely on your head and the Schuberth Rescue System, which allows first responders to pull the cheek pads out to quickly remove the helmet.
Yet, the biggest selling point is the weight. The carbon material has reduced the helmet’s weight by a claimed seven ounces (200g) compared to the fiberglass S3. This would put the smallest size at around 3.5 pounds, while the largest sits at roughly four pounds.
The helmet comes pre-installed with all the antennas and plugs needed to mount Schuberth’s SC2, SC2 Standard, or SC Edge communicators. The devices are sold separately (although we’re sure Schuberth will offer a bundle).
A double chin air intake with an exchangeable filter offers both cooling and fresh breathing air. The exhaust is located at the rear chin spoiler. As to sound performance, the helmet is rated for 85dB at a speed of 60 mph on a naked bike.
For maximum comfort, the helmet benefits from Schuberth’s Individual program, allowing you to customize the padding and lining for personal fit. The linings features Oeko-Tex 100 fabric for breathability and antibacterial performance.
The helmet has an integrated sun visor with new locking mechanism, and the visor features a pre-installed Pinlock antifog lens. A new City Position for the visor claims to provide a wider field of view.
The Schuberth S3 Carbon will be available from March 2026 in a glossy carbon black. American pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but comparing European price tags, the helmet will cost roughly twice as much as the standard S3.
