Basic motorcycle maintenance is a rite of passage, in my eyes. If you work on your own bike, you’ll be more in tune with how it performs. You’re also more likely to be able to fix issues when they pop up on the road.
One basic maintenance task you can perform at home is the oil change. Here is a list of items you’ll need to make your DIY oil change a breeze.
Open-top Oil Drain Pan
Always opt for an open-top drain pan instead of closed containers when maintaining your own machines. They allow you to inspect your oil after it has drained from the engine. Check for chunks of metal, discolored or milky oil, or glittery deposits on the bottom. Wipe the pan clean after each oil change.
