We already covered Suzuki’s 2022 models for their cruiser and street lineups in an earlier post. But the company has something in store for adventure riders as well.
Suzuki’s famous V-Strom 1050XT and 1050XT Adventure return for this model year. These sleek, distinctive machines will take you to the office, on a tour, or to explore new trails — pretty much anywhere you’d like to go.
As a highlight for 2022, both bikes feature the Suzuki Intelligents Ride System (SIRS). This advanced tech suite is interconnected to an electronic control module (ECM) vua a controller area network (CAN) harness.
The bikes’ three-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) measures movement information in six directions, adding one direction over the previous IMU generation. It can track pitch, yaw, and roll according to the V-Stroms’ position, movement, and acceleration.

The SIRS comes with a slew of technologies to give your riding experience a boost. Four-sensitivity-mode traction control, the Suzuki Drive-Mode Selector (S-DMS), and cruise control effectively maintain road speed.
The S-DMS lets the rider pick power delivery characteristics for the engine to suit different riding conditions and skill levels. The modes — A, B, and C — respectively soften the throttle response.
SIRS also includes an adjustable motion track antilock and combined brake system (with hill hold), and slope- and load-dependent control systems to manage braking force.
More than High-Tech
Outside of electronics, both the V-Strom 1050XT and the V-Strom 1050XT Adventure feature a 1037cc, four-stroke V-twin engine. A new radiator offers 15% more cooling capacity than the previous V-Strom generation to accommodate for the higher engine output.
The 43mm KYB inverted fork, with adjustable spring preload and compression and rebound damping, offers a sporty and plush ride in various conditions. In the rear, a link-type single shock absorbs ruts and bumps on trails.

When you have to stop the bike, radial-mounted Tokico four-piston front brake calipers grab tightly onto 310mm floating dual discs. Combined with the motion track anti-lock, they provide strong stopping power.
A height-adjustable windshield, with 11 different positions over a two-inch range, reduces wind noise and buffeting. The large-diameter aluminum handlebar offers good steering control while dampening vibration to keep feeling in your fingers.
The seat is adjustable and narrow, enabling a comfortable riding position and making it easier for your legs to reach the ground. Its sides are also covered with a high-grip material to improve safety.
The bikes have a well-sized 5.3-gallon fuel tank. But the size doesn’t impede on comfort, thanks to its slim design.
The V-Strom 1050XT comes in a Metallic Oort Gray/Glass Sparkle Black colorway, while the 1050XT Adventure is painted Champion Yellow/Glass Sparkle Black. The Adventure also comes standard with 37-liter quick-release aluminum panniers, LED fog lights, and heated grips.
The 2022 Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT retails for $14,849. The 2022 V-Strom 1050XT Adventure, for its part, has a price tag of $17,049.
