Trevor Motorcycles is a Belgian pioneer in electric motorcycles whose DTRe Stella is a prime example of an electricity-powered flat track-type racing bike. There’s just one problem—the bike has only been available in Europe.

Now that has changed. Trevor Motorcycles has brought the off-road-only variant of the Stella to the U.S. and the bike is available to order.

This motorcycle highlights a curious dichotomy between the two continents. Whereas the bike can be ridden on the street in Europe, stateside it is strictly for off-road use.

You get to enjoy a delightful cavalcade of premium components on the trail. Supporting the bike is a trellis frame made out of chromoly, providing the motorcycle with a high-strength skeleton.

In the front sits an Öhlins fork, and the suspension also features Sarolea Performance Technology components. Trevor has failed to disclose what those Sarolea parts are, though, so we’ll have to wait and see once we get our hands on the machine.

Stopping power stems from Beringer calipers in both the front and rear. The brakes bring Mitas 19-inch front and rear tires to a halt.

At the heart of the bike is an 11kW air-cooled brushless DC 3-phase electric motor, drawing power from a 2.7kWh lithium-ion battery. Trevor promises around 15 hp of peak power and 7 hp of rated power, alongside 233 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel (35 lb-ft at the crank).

With all of that, the bike can reach a (fairly modest) claimed top speed of 56 mph. The riding fun on the 183-pound bike can last for up to 54 miles—not a huge range but enough for some trail bouncing.

With the supplied 1kWh charger, the battery takes about two hours to charge to 80%.

In the looks department, well, there’s actually not a whole heck of a lot to talk about. The Stella has an extremely minimalistic construction with a single flat white body component.

Personally, I kind of like it—it’s almost like a motorcycle version of the early Apple iPods. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

With an MSRP of $11,975, the Trevor DTRe Stella is a bit more affordable than some of its electric flat-tracky competitors.
