Moto Morini Revs Up New 2027 X-Cape 1200

Italian motorcycle icon Moto Morini has introduced a new toy for ADV enthusiasts. The new 2027 Moto Morini X-Cape 1200 promises to be a powerful, agile, and stylish adventuring package.

Powering the X-Cape 1200 is the same liquid-cooled Corsa Corta Evo V-twin engine as before, featuring an 87-degree cylinder arrangement, dual overhead cams, and eight valves per cylinder. According to the manufacturer, the engine produces 129 horsepower and 78.2 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm.

The engine is suspended in a tubular steel trellis frame with a bolt-on, removable aluminum subframe. As a unique feature, the motorcycle’s 6.5-gallon fuel tank wraps around the engine, keeping the bike’s center of gravity lower for better stability and easier handling. 

Suspension components consist of KYB parts, both front and rear, offering 7.1 inches of travel. The 48mm inverted fork can be adjusted for preload, compression, and rebound, while the progressive-linkage shock has compression, rebound damping, and preload adjustability (the latter with a tool-less dial). Seat height is 33 inches, with 7.5 inches of ground clearance.

The Brembo front brake has four-piston calipers, which clamp down on dual 320mm discs. The tubeless spoked wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail III rubber as standard. 

Altogether, the bike’s dry weight clocks in at 523 pounds. Although Moto Morini describes this as “remarkably low,” the X-Cape 1200’s dry weight is the exact same as the BMW R 1300 GS’s claimed wet weight.

In tech, the motorcycle comes with a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that informs four ride modes with lean-sensitive traction control, cornering-ABS, and corner lights. Other technological features include standard cruise control, bidirectional quickshifter, tire pressure monitoring, and a blind-spot radar.

The rider aids and modes are controlled through a seven-inch TFT screen that also boasts integrated navigation. Moto Morini has also included heated grips and seats as standard.

For the 2027 model year, the X-Cape 1200 comes in a new Carrara White color scheme, in addition to the classic Italian Red. The motorcycle retails for $12,999 and comes with a three-year unlimited warranty.
