Backcountry Discovery Routes and Zero Team Up for Electric ADV Riding

A new partnership is taking adventure riding to an electrified future. Famous adventure motorcycling route planner Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) has teamed up with electric bike maker Zero to advance electric ADV riding.

As part of the partnership, Zero will act as an official OEM sponsor of upcoming BDR and BDR-X routes. The organizations’ goal is to raise awareness of electric ADV riding and help grow the network of EV charging stations along the 13 existing and future BDR routes.

To this end, BDR’s interactive online maps can now display EV charging stations within a 25-mile radius of any BDR route. ADV riders on electric bikes can now more easily plan their future trips.

The partnership also aims to promote Zero’s new DSR/X bike, marketed as the world’s first true electric ADV motorcycle. The bike has high ground clearance, a 19-inch front wheel, a luggage-capable frame, and a rugged suspension system to take it through uneven ADV routes.

To dispel concerns about the limited range of electric ADV bikes, BDR and Zero plan to put the new DSR/X to the test. The bike will head out on long-distance scouting and filming trips for the upcoming Northern California BDR and the Black Hills, SD, BDR-X routes.
