Riding with the ScorpionExo XT9000 Carbon Helmet

The ScorpionExo XT9000 Carbon helmet is a versatile adventure-touring helmet designed for riders who venture across diverse terrains. Crafted with a 3K carbon fiber shell, it offers a lightweight yet robust construction, making it suitable for both on-road and off-road rides.
Weighing approximately 3.7 pounds, the XT9000 Carbon is notably light for an adventure helmet. Its aerodynamic profile minimizes lift and turbulence, making it feel stable even at higher speeds.
The interior features the KwikWick III moisture-wicking liner, which is breathable and easily removable for washing. A standout feature is the AirFit inflation system, allowing riders to customize the fit of the cheek pads for enhanced comfort and reduced wind noise.
Simply pump the button located on the back of the chin bar to inflate the cheek pads to your desired tension. To release the pressure, all you need to do is press a small valve.
Not only does the inflation system make the helmet fit nice and snug, the cheek pads also accommodate eyeglasses comfortably. The only quarrel I have is that the location of the inflation button on the chin bar means I can’t use my GoPro clamp mount.
That said, the helmet does include an action camera mounting plate, providing a flat surface to attach cameras securely with adhesive mounts. It’s a solid workaround.
Vision and Versatility
The XT9000 Carbon comes equipped with an optically clear MaxVision Pinlock-ready face shield, providing 95% UV-A and UV-B protection. The wide eye port allows for greater peripheral vision and accommodates most goggle sizes and brands.
The helmet includes both clear and dark smoke face shields, along with a Pinlock 120 antifog insert.
Designed for adaptability, the XT9000 Carbon comes with a removable peak visor, allowing riders to transition between off-road and street riding easily. The helmet is communication-ready, with speaker pockets that fit most Bluetooth communicator systems.
Performance
On the road, the XT9000 Carbon performs admirably, with its lightweight construction and aerodynamic design contributing to reduced fatigue during long rides. Being such a lightweight helmet, I do advise you wear earplugs at higher speeds.
The ScorpionExo XT9000 Carbon helmet offers a blend of lightweight construction, comfort, and versatility, making it suitable for a range of riding conditions. While the wind noise does get loud at higher speeds, the helmet’s array of features, including the AirFit system, ventilation, and adaptability for different riding styles, position it as a strong contender in the adventure helmet segment.
