Riding With The Riser App

The days of planning motorcycling routes by poring over paper maps are long gone (unless that’s what you prefer). Powerful route planning apps, like Riser, let you whip up a tour and hit the road quickly and easily.
Riser, owned by Cardo, is a multifunctional mobile app for motorcyclists. It combines route planning, navigation, roadbook, and community features into a single convenient package.
In Riser’s Route Planner, you can enter your starting and ending locations, and pick whether you want a direct or curvy route. The app generates a motorcycle-specific route that you can then modify by adding waypoints along the way.
Once you’re on the road, Riser’s navigation feature provides turn-by-turn instructions to guide you on your way. The app also offers GPS tracking and roadbook features, which records every turn of your trip.
You can later add photos and waypoint information, before sharing the route with Riser’s motorcyclist community.
That community will also help you if you can’t decide where to go. You can connect with other riders on the app to see their riding progress and to chat and organize tours.
Other riders can also provide you with inspiration through the reRide function. This feature allows riders to open any recorded and shared route in the Route Planner to modify or ride as is.
As further incentive to create and share routes, Riser has fun achievements you can unlock. They won’t give you anything besides online glory, but hey — maybe they’ll help you complete your seasonal riding goal.
All of this is available simply with Riser’s free account. The paid Pro subscription unlocks even more tools to take your rides to the next level.
Pro users can plan rides with the super curvy routing option in Route Planner and export them as GPX files. They are also able to download offline maps, use the reWind function to view recorded rides on a 3D map, and view satellite maps.
The subscription also unlocks the PackRide feature, which helps you plan group rides and notifies users in real time if a group member falls behind or needs a break.
Riser is available on Android and Apple devices, and the Route Planner also works on web browsers. The Pro subscription costs $8.99/month.
