Light the Night with Clearwater Valkyrie Light Kit for 2025 BMW R 1300 GSA

Auxiliary lighting can be one of the most important motorcycle upgrades you make. It’s not just about being able to see the road ahead, but also about drivers being able to see you.
Clearwater Light manufactures a variety of LED auxiliary lights that enhance visibility and safety. The Valkyrie lights are particularly impressive.
These round pods feature a five-LED pattern that emits over 5,500 lumens while only consuming 60 watts. The compact three-inch-diameter pods not only dish out a ridiculous amount of light, but they tuck nicely next to the beak on the BWM R 1300 GSA.
My kit came with the dual-beam pattern, which combines spot (on top) and flood (on bottom) dispersion for maximum visibility. A full spot beam is also available if your focus is on penetrative distance.
The lights are fully dimmable and integrate seamlessly with the BMW's controls through the Clearwater CANopener system. This integration enables features such as:
- High Beam Mode: Lights automatically switch to 100% brightness when the bike's high beam is activated.
- Horn Activation Mode: Lights strobe when the horn is used, enhancing visibility to others.
- Hazard Flash Mode: Lights strobe in sync with hazard signals.
- Turn Signal Dimming Mode: Lights dim when turn signals are active and return to previous brightness afterward.
These programmable features enhance both daytime and nighttime visibility, contributing to rider safety. You can also dim the lights on the fly by using the WonderWheel on the left grip.
To change your preferred setting in each mode, simply follow a series of button pushes outlined in the user manual. Doing this made me feel like I was entering a cheat code on a video game, but it worked flawlessly.

Installation
The kit includes a wiring harness and mounting hardware tailored for the R 1300 GSA (or your chosen motorcycle based on the fitment kit). The mounting bracket fits up inside the fairing and keeps the lights as close to the body of the bike as possible.
The wiring harness has very easy plug-and-play installation, with the wiring adapter stashed in the fairing and the CANopener module plugged in under the seat. I was able to route the wires underneath the tank without having to remove it, which was a pleasant surprise.
The worst part of the installation process was removing the 36 (you read that right) fairing bolts on the GSA in order to expose the area where the wire harness is stashed and the bracket attaches. That said, it was overall a simple process that took about an hour with the proper tools.
Turn Night Into Day
The lights are incredibly bright, and will get the attention of other highway users even during the day. I even found it difficult to take photos of the bike riding by when the lights were on. There is no question that this light kit increases your visibility.
Then, when the sun went down, I was amazed yet again with the incredible light spread. The Clearwater Valkyrie lights have both penetrating distance with the spot beams and a low dispersed lighting with the fog beams. There is so much light stuffed into such a small package.
