Review: 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide

A New Motorcycle on an Old Road

I don’t often fall in love with a motorcycle right when I swing my leg over it—especially, to be frank, if that motorcycle is a Harley-Davidson. Yet, the 2024 Road Glide and I clicked right away. It was like when you meet someone and immediately hit it off, form a bond, and instantly become friends for life. After more than 2,500 miles crossing the U.S. aboard this fantastic machine, that feeling only intensified. But, like having a friend as a roommate, you will inevitably discover habits that bother you. In the end, we’re still best friends, despite having a few quarrels.

H-D made significant updates to the Road Glide for 2024, including new looks, new tech, new suspension, and a new engine. The Motor Company is one of the best in the industry at changing things while maintaining the original spirit of the machine. They carefully change enough to move forward and make a new product, while retaining the soul that’s been in the making for over a century.

A New Look

The trendy LED headlight does its job and also looks great, although I suspect the new design will be a “love it or hate it” kind of deal. If you are partial to the classic dual lights, the new front end may take some getting used to. Personally, I love the new look. It’s available in several colors for an upcharge, but the base color is Billiard Gray.
