2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT & GSX-S1000GT+

Suzuki has taken the GSX-S1000 naked sport bike and transformed it into a powerful modern sport tourer. New for 2022, the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT and GSX-S1000GT+ strike a fine balance between high performance and comfort, with a sophisticated look. For this bike, Suzuki created a new category called Grand Touring.

The starting point for the engine is the proven GSX-R—a 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC in-line four-cylinder superbike which delivers smooth and consistent power. Enhancements to the engine include revised intake and exhaust camshafts, cam chain tensioners, and valve springs, as well as redesigned clutch and gear shift components. This combination leaves us with a smoother torque curve that should make this motorcycle an exhilarating yet easy-to-ride machine.

Engine performance is managed by expanded Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) technology, including electronic cruise control, five modes of adjustable traction control, and bi-directional clutchless quick-shifting. These goodies help augment sport rides on Sunday mornings, as well as cross-continent tours.

Comfort is critical for the touring rider, and the GSX-S1000GT delivers in this regard, even over long distances. Fully adjustable KYB suspension allows quick adjustments for single or two-up riding. A rubber-mounted handlebar and rubber footpeg inserts reduce the amount of engine vibration reaching the rider and passenger. The seat offers a sporty style paired with the ability to easily move around. An optional touring windscreen adds an additional 2.75 inches over the stock screen, providing enhanced wind protection on longer rides.

Adequate storage is always a consideration with any touring machine, and the GT comes with the option of large-capacity side cases (27 liters total) which will fit a full-face helmet on each side. The cases can be removed, and the hardware has an unobtrusive design with black fasteners—keeping the styling of the bike in mind even when the cases are not in use. On the GT+ model, the side cases come standard.

Suzuki has introduced a 6.5-inch full color TFT LCD display to the GT. While these displays have become standard equipment on modern motorcycles, it’s the first of its kind on a Suzuki. This display was developed to provide smartphone connectivity through the Suzuki mySPIN application. The display boasts a variety of features, including a tachometer, gear position, ride mode selection, quick-shift settings, a voltmeter, instant fuel consumption and riding range, smartphone connectivity status, and rider-passenger intercom status.

The GT’s body colors include the majestic Metallic Reflective Blue, and the sleek Glass Sparkle Black. The all-new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT and GSX-S1000GT+ will be available at Suzuki dealers in early 2022 for $13,149 and $13,799, respectively.
