Located on the historic Cotton Row in downtown Cleveland, the Cotton House is a fixture on the Mississippi Blues Trail. If you’re planning to stay in Cleveland during your ride, the Cotton House is the place to be.

The hotel sits close to all of the attractions you’ll want to visit, many of which are within walking distance. You can find several Blues Trail markers in the downtown area, and many more are are only a short ride away from the hotel.

I stayed at the Cotton House for five nights during my Cleveland, Mississippi Shamrock Tour, and I couldn’t have picked a better base camp for the week. Spacious and clean guest rooms with cold air conditioning are always welcome after a long ride in the Mississippi heat. The rooms have plenty of space to hang up wet riding gear to dry, too.

In the evenings, I enjoyed walking off my dinner at the downtown park and walking trail, located just outside of the hotel. The surrounding area has many small shops, including an ice cream parlor, but most close early so don’t wait too late to get outside.

There are two restaurants located inside the Cotton House. On the ground floor, you will find the Delta Meat Market. The menu is seasonal and regional, so get ready for some of the best southern cooking you’ve ever had. I recommend the shrimp and grits if it’s on the menu.

Bar Fontaine is on the roof and stays open late with a full-service bar. They serve contemporary treats, like duck confit poutine tots, which were absolutely amazing.

If you venture out of the hotel, you won't have to go far to find more great food. The downtown square of Cleveland has plenty of other restaurants as well. Hey Joe’s is one of the recommended local dives and a favorite of college students from nearby Delta State University. Most nights they have live bands and fresh local beer on tap.

You can’t beat Cleveland for a Mississippi motorcycle getaway, and the Cotton House made for an excellent place to stay.
