New Yamaha WR450F Enduro Bike

Yamaha has revealed its 2021 WR450F Enduro model, which has undergone a series of changes and fine-tuning to provide a better riding experience over a wider range of terrain.

Among the changes made to the machine are a remodeled engine and frame, new suspension settings, and improved brakes, the company said in a statement. The bike is intended to provide a smooth ride across both demanding enduro conditions and open trails.

The 449cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine with electric start has a new compact cylinder head, featuring a redesigned combustion chamber shape and steeper valve angles. A forward-position downdraft intake with rear exhaust powerplant houses a new higher compression piston with low friction rings, which is attached to a longer connecting rod.

The company said the new engine is more compact and capable of producing more power across the entire rpm range when compared to its predecessors.

The redesigned aluminum bilateral beam frame is lightweight and features new wall thicknesses and flex characteristics. The changes are aimed at improving cornering performance, traction, and bump reaction when riding off-road.

Other parts of the bike—including engine mounts, top triple clamp, and front axle—were also fine-tuned to reduce frame weight. The 2021 WR450F also comes with a newly designed front brake caliper, brake pads, and front disc.

Yamaha has further included other improvements, such as a more compact electric start system and enduro meter, a new fuel consumption meter, and advanced fuel injection.

“The newly redesigned WR450F provides a lighter, more powerful, and better handling off-road experience for both serious enduro riders and recreational trail riders alike,” said Yamaha Motorcycle Product Line Manager Derek Brooks.

In addition, the 2021 WR450F is eligible for Yamaha’s 2020 bLU cRU Off-road Racing Contingency Program. Participating riders are rewarded with rebates on parts and accessories purchases and other bonuses.

With the new enduro bike, Yamaha also announced new GYTR accessories. These products—intended for serious enduro racing—include a high-performance engine control unit, communication control unit, and a dual-mode switch.
