BMW R 18

BMW has officially stepped into the cruiser segment with the announcement of their all-new model, the R 18. Designed with the purist in mind, the R 18 gets its looks and “attitude” from some of its classic predecessors, such as the R 5, and features no-frills tech—the boxer engine is the superstar on this bike.

Some of the standout features of the R 18 are its cruiser-style ergonomics, double-loop steel tube frame, and rear swingarm with enclosed axle drive in a rigid-frame. It also sports a displacement of 1802cc and 110 lb-ft of torque, and an air- and oil-cooled boxer engine that happens to be the most powerful 2-cylinder engine ever used in BMW’s motorcycle series. With a peak power output of 91 horsepower at 4,750 rpm and 116 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm, the R 18 also promises a deep, reverberating sound that’s sure to be music to the ears of cruiser lovers. Of course, the features don’t stop there! Click here for full specs and to learn more.

You can witness the live, global reveal of the R 18 at 2 p.m. EST today by subscribing to @BMWMotorrad on Facebook. The live event will take place via Facebook and YouTube.
