One of the biggest pieces of news out of Milan this year was Ducati’s new Monster 797, little brother to the 2017 Monster 1200, and a sporty entry-level bike for newcomers to the brand.

Weighing in at 425 pounds, the 803cc air-cooled L-twin produces a claimed 75 hp at 8,250 rpm. Outfitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II’s, the new 797 has radially mounted Brembo M4.32 calipers, two 320mm semi-floating discs up front, and a 245mm disc rear. Bosch ABS, LED position and tail lights, and an LED display come standard.

The Monster 797 has the traditional Ducati trellis frame in steel tubes, leaving the twin cylinder on full display. The frame combines perfectly with the double-sided swingarm fused in aluminium, and thanks to the compact wheelbase, ensures agility in traffic and stability at high speeds.

It’s available in Star White Silk, with red frame and wheels, for $9,395, or classic Ducati Red, with black frame and wheels, for $9,295. A “Plus” version, equipped with a passenger seat cover and windshield, is also available.
