BMW C Evolution

As interest in electric vehicles continues to rise, BMW has announced a new version of its C Evolution e-scooter. First introduced in 2012, the C Evolution has not been available for sale in the U.S., but this is set to change.

The new model will be available in two versions. The U.S. will likely get the Long Range model, which uses the same 94 Ah battery found in BMW’s i3 electric car, with a claimed range of approximately 100 miles. The original C Evolution used a 60 Ah lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of 62 miles. A new charge cable with a smaller diameter will come standard, and optional accessories such as a smartphone cradle will be available. The Long Range is said to produce a peak 26 hp, 11 more than its predecessor.

The 2017 model will be available in Ionic Silver Metallic/Electric Green and Blackstorm Metallic. Already available in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Ireland, and China, the new C Evolution is due to launch in the U.S. as well as Japan, South Korea, and Russia. Date and pricing have yet to be announced.

Wondering where to get a charge? Drivers can now travel the most heavily-trafficked corridors on the East and West Coasts with the installation of 95 new DC Fast charging stations, part of the Express Charging Corridors Initiative, a collaboration of BMW, Volkswagen, and ChargePoint, the world’s largest EV charging network. The corridors are designed to make longer distance EV travel easier, with faster charging time than standard Level 2 public charging.
