First Ever Female BMW GS Trophy TeamCompetition in the Dirt –

The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy competition pits teams of amateur riders from all over the world against each other in a grueling competition to see who’s got the skills to pilot an R 1200 GS over some of the world’s toughest terrain. The 2016 event, which will be held between February 28 and March 5, 2016 in Thailand, will feature an all female team for the first time.

A preliminary competition to choose the three women who would make the final team took place at the Country Trax Off-road Riding Academy in South Africa. Countries sending riders to fight for a spot on the team included UK, France, Spain, Iceland, United States, Canada, Brazil, Thailand, Australia, and South Africa. The women ranged in age from 26 to 46 years old.

After an intense series of thirteen challenges the three finalists emerged. Taking first place was Stephanie Bouisson from France, second went to Australia’s Amy Harburg, and South Africa’s Morag Campbell followed in third. The three will be the GS Trophy’s first all-women team.
