KPCR_Ride3The Kyle Petty Charity Ride, founded by former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty, is one of the nation’s premier charitable organizations run by motorcyclists. To date the ride has raised over $16 million for various children’s organizations, primarily the Victory Junction Gang camp. The camp provides a life changing and fun summer camp experience for children with chronic illnesses in a medically safe environment completely free of charge. Victory Junction was founded by the Petty family in honor of Kyle’s late son, Adam, who passed away in a NASCAR racing accident.

The 2015 Kyle Petty Charity Ride has traditionally been a cross-country motorcycle convoy with around 200 motorcyclists participating in the 2,500-mile journey. The trip follows a different route every year. The dates and route itinerary for the 2015 ride are:

May 2 – Santa Cruz, CA to Bakersfield, CA
May 3 – Bakersfield, CA to Tonopah, NV
May 4 – Tonopah, NV to Bryce Canyon, UT
May 5 – Bryce Canyon, UT to Moab, UT
May 6 – Moab, UT to Colorado Springs, CO
May 7 – Colorado Springs, CO to Hutchinson, KS
May 8 – Hutchinson, KS to Branson, MO

Last year we sat down to talk with Mr. Petty about the origins and inspiration for the ride. Check it out in the video below.
