2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse

2016 Indian Chief Dark HorseThe first 2016 model Indian is a stripped down, blacked out version of the highly successful Chief. Called the Dark Horse, the new bike ditches the bright paint and shiny chrome of the Chief Classic for a blacked out engine, pipes, bars, and pretty much everything else, to go with a matte black paint scheme. The Dark Horse also loses some of the Classic’s standard features including the oil cooler, analogue fuel gauge, driving lights, and passenger accommodations. These deductions, along with the loss of chrome and a switch to cast wheels, result in what is, according to Indian, the lightest and fastest bike in the Chief lineup. It’s the cheapest, too. The Dark horse comes in $2,000 below the Chief Classic at $16,999.

Of course, for those who’ll want to carry a pillion, Indian will be more than happy to sell customers a back seat and passenger pegs for the Dark Horse, amongst 40 other parts and accessories to customize the machine.

The Dark Horse will hit dealerships this month and demo rides will be available at Daytona Bike Week in Daytona Beach, FL March 7-14.

What do you think of the blacked out style of the Indian Chief Dark Horse?
