RoadRUNNER Editor Spotlight: Brian ShaneyYou’ve read their articles and perhaps met them out on the road or at RoadRUNNER‘s annual Touring Weekend, but what do you know about our illustrious group of writers and editors? We decided to ask each one a few simple questions and share their responses with you, next up, RoadRUNNER blogger and contributor, Brian Shaney.

Name: Brian Shaney
Current city and state: Anthem, AZ

  1. How and when did you start riding? I started riding friend’s motorcycles when I was about 12.
  2. What was your first bike? 1978 Honda CB550K that I traded my car for.
  3. Tell us your favorite road where you live? Arizona Highway 89
  4. Current ride (or bike you ride the most)? 2012 Suzuki V-Strom DL650
  5. Number one Bucket List Road? The Kolyma Highway (“Road of Bones)

What are the best and worst bikes you’ve ever ridden and how did they earn that distinction? I’m going to answer the same bike for both. The 2006 Buell XB12X Ulysses—Great styling, power, handling, and performance. However, it suffered from numerous engineering/design flaws (electrical issues and a poorly designed rear wheel bearing setup) this made it unreliable.

Be sure to catch up with last week’s spotlight, Joe Trey.
