2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2R: A New Era of SpeedKawasaki’s marketing team has been working overtime for the past few months making sure that everyone knew Big Green was working on something big. Even with all the hype, the newly unveiled Ninja H2R still comes as a bit of a shock. We don’t have many details about the new bike, but we do know that it’s powered by a 998cc, supercharged inline four cylinder developing around 300 horsepower. Though they generally don’t release horsepower numbers, it’s safe to say that the H2R is making significantly more power than MotoGP bikes.

If you’re thinking that this is way too much power for the street, you’re very right. The H2R is only for track use, though a street version, presumably at least running on lower boost from the supercharger (therefore making less power), will be unveiled soon. There’s no word on pricing but if the amount of carbon fiber visible in the photos is any indication, it won’t be cheap. The H2R embraces an evolved aesthetic compared to Kawasaki’s current generation of sportbikes with a beautiful green steel trellis frame, single-sided swingarm, and angular styling combining to make a surprisingly handsome motorcycle.

Kawasaki’s stated goal has been to create bikes that are “fun to ride” with a key component of the fun being fast acceleration. We have no doubts that the Ninja H2R will take the acceleration level way past fun and into the realm of terrifying.
