Edelweiss Around the World Motorcycle Expedition: Moscow to BangkokNot for the faint of heart, Edelweiss Bike Travel’s Around the World Expedition strays far from traditional international motorcycle tour destinations. The 2014 edition began on August 10th in Moscow, Russia. The riders will spend the next 63 days on the road covering 8,700 miles in the process. The journey will wander through eastern Russia before crossing into Asia. From there the group will take in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Laos before reaching the tour’s final destination of Bangkok, Thailand. Some highlights along the way include a visit to Kazakhstan’s former capital city of Almaty, the Terracotta Army UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Giant Panda Research Base in Chengdu, China, and the many temples of Bangkok.

This incredible tour is only one leg of Edelweiss Bike Travel’s Around the World Tour, which, for motorcyclists well heeled and adventurous enough, allows them to truly circle the globe. The 2014 Moscow to Bangkok ride may be going on right now, but the 2015 dates are already set, so if you’re up for the challenge clear your calendar from August 9th through October 10th of next year.

What do you think? Does crossing eastern Russia and Asia by motorcycle sound like your idea of a good time?
