23rd Annual Ride to Work DayFor the last 23 years the third Monday in June has held a special significance for motorcyclists. It’s the day when, whether you normally commute on your bike or scooter or not, you take your ride to work. The goal is to raise awareness among the non-motorcycling community about the advantages of two-wheeled travel as well as to encourage them to watch for motorcycles on the road. The idea is to share the benefits of using motorcycles and scooters as daily transportation. Aerostich’s Andy Goldfine, one of the event’s organizers, states, “Many people do not always appreciate the societally positive value of transportational riding, and some don’t know there are also a few hidden deleterious ramifications from having almost everyone default to private autos. Cars are wonderful machines, and we love them, but the reasons to ride, when one can, go beyond stuff like energy or carbon footprints.”

This year Ride to Work Day falls on Monday, June 16th and the ride’s organizers hope that as many motorcyclists as possible will take to the streets and corporate parking lots across the country. For more info check out www.ridetowork.org.
