Motus MST and MSTR American Sport Bikes Inch Closer to ProductionFew hurdles remain for Motus to start shipping motorcycles to customers who’ve placed their pre-orders already. The photo above shows one of the long awaited MSTs strapped to a dyno at the EPA/CARB test lab where it is being run and tested 14 hours a day to ensure its compliance with U.S. emissions standards. Once the tests are over and approval finds its way down through the bewildering channels of government bureaucracy, Motus will be able to start manufacturing and delivering motorcycles.

If you’re unfamiliar with Motus’ decidedly premium, American made, V-4 powered sport-touring bikes, be sure to check them out here. Speaking of that V-4, Motus has also recently released a dyno chart of the engine’s impressive power figures for the first time. The base Motus MST puts out a stout 165 horsepower at 7,600 RPM and a staggering 123 pound feet of torque at just 5,000 RPM. The up-spec MSTR increases those numbers to 180 horsepower at 8,200 RPM and 126 pound feet at 5,000. Of course, these big numbers come with a cost, and the Motus has been repeatedly excoriated for its base price of $30,975. Still, for those looking for a truly great American made sport tourer, Motus is it.
