Yamaha Super Ténéré Gets Updates for 2014Since its introduction to the U.S. market in 2012, the Yamaha Super Ténéré has gone basically unchanged. This year, however, a series of thoughtful updates as well as a new ES model keep the Super Ten a relevant option in the highly competitive large displacement adventure category. Highlighting the changes are revisions to the Ténéré’s 1,199cc parallel twin engine. These result in small power and torque gains (an increase of about 2 hp and 1.5 pound feet) but also, according to Yamaha, “more exciting engine character with more pulling power.” The Super Ténéré also gets an updated windscreen, Drive Mode (electronic throttle control), handlebar position, display, and LED turn signals. The base Ténéré now includes cruise control, will be available in Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Gray/Matte Black, and carries an MSRP of $15,090.

The new 2014 Super Ténéré ES sports Yamaha’s Electronic Suspension, much like the setup found on the FJR1300ES. The suspension can be set to over 80 different settings to accommodate virtually every combination of road condition and load. The Ténéré ES also comes with heated grips for $16,190; the only color option is Matte Gray/Matte Black.

The base Super Ténéré will hit dealers in April followed by the ES version in May.
