RoadRUNNER’s Bucket List Roads: U.S. Route 250What is It? U.S. Route 250 is a spur of U.S. 50, which runs 514 miles from Sandusky, OH, to Richmond, VA, but the most scenic and curvy stretch is between Elkins, WV and Staunton, VA.

Points of Interest: Staunton, VA and Elkins, WV are historic towns with numerous things to see and inviting eateries.

Scenery: Panoramic valley vistas from two mountain ridges, bucolic farmland, and lush vegetation along meandering creeks.

Curves: Many curves with limited site distances.

Traffic: Generally light, except near Staunton and Elkins.

Distance: Approximately 105 miles.

Time Required: Approximately 2 hours.

Technical Difficulty: Challenging switchbacks, numerous tight curves, and elevation changes. It’s a thrilling ride, but beware of the County Mounties often hiding along the roadside.
