2014 Ducati Monster 1200 and 1200 SAt the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Ducati will debut the latest chapter in the monster saga, the 1200. The new range-topping Monster features a 1,198cc Testastretta L-twin engine producing a stout 135 horsepower and 87 pound feet of torque. Taking it up a notch, the 1200 S (with gold front forks) adds another 10 horsepower and five pound feet. All that power coupled with a wet weight of just 461 pounds should make the new Monster a very entertaining ride.

It’ll be easy to live with too; an adjustable seat height makes it accessible to riders of differing inseams, and top shelf brake and suspension components, along with lightweight rolling stock, should make for impressive braking and handling. Eight level traction control, three level ABS, and three level Ride by Wire throttle settings are all integrated into selectable riding modes.

The Monster 1200 ($13,495) will be available in that famous Ducati red while the 1200 S ($15,995) will be offered in both red and white.
