Ride the Divide - Day 6: Where the Cows and the Antelope Play or, Say Hello to My Little FriendA 200-mile trek across Wyoming’s high desert may not be for everyone, but it had me excited as we headed out this morning. Along the way we enjoyed some of the best dirt roads thus far and held on while bouncing down some of the worst. In spite of the severe abuse our bikes (and bodies) endured on the ride, this was our first trouble-free day. Over the past few days the terrain and scenery changed from green and densely wooded to wide open spaces and sparse desert brush.

Sand was an issue at times and we had to keep a keen eye out for Antelope. I noticed that they don’t seem to travel alone, so when one would appear, it was wise to keep an eye out for a second, or third.

We stopped a few times to stretch and take in the scenery and found that the desert floor was full of wild life. A small lizard seemed curious about who, or what, had entered his world and after a brief introduction we parted ways and continued on to Rawlins, WY where we ended the day.

Tomorrow we move on into Colorado.
