Polaris, which acquired Indian® Motorcycle in April, says it has built the first Indian motorcycle at its Spirit Lake facility. Polaris employees planned to evaluate the motorcycle before production startup; dealer-available units are scheduled to begin in October. The 2012 Indian Motorcycle lineup hasn’t changed, with the Chief Classic, Chief Dark Horse and Chief Vintage all planned. All 2012 Indian motorcycles will feature the Power Plus 105 (1,720cc) engine, which is said to make about 75 horsepower mated to a six-speed gearbox. Prices have not been announced.
