2019 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

More than 30 bands and entertainers are lined up for the 38th annual Sturgis Buffalo Chip music festival, set for August 2-11 and running concurrently with South Dakota’s 2019 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Keith Urban, Godsmack, Styx, Collective Soul, Toby Keith, Volbeat, Zakk Sabbath, and Reverend Horton Heat are among the headliners of the event. Known as “The Best Party Anywhere,” the festival is held at the 600-acre creek-fed Buffalo Chip Campground, 3 miles east of Sturgis. The campsite features tent camping, RV camping and RV rentals, cabin rentals, plus a swimming hole, bars, and food.

The fun begins with a pre-rally party July 29-August 1. In addition to concerts and shows on five stages, a highlight of the 10-day festival is the nationally televised Championship AMA Flat Track Races on August 4, when the nation’s top motorcycle racers face a series of challenges on the Buffalo Chip TT half-mile track, designed by the AFT’s champion track builder Chris Carr.

Other activities and entertainment include seven days of racing, drag racing at the amphitheater, rides through the Black Hills, a women’s motorcycle campout, stunt shows, daily bike shows, the Motorcycles as Art Exhibition showcasing the work of the world’s best bike builders, and more. Admission to the concerts and races is free with camping. Various admission passes are available. For more information, including prices, see www.buffalochip.com.
