2020 Zero SR/F Electric Motorcycle

It’s powerful, fast, connected, and stylish: Zero Motorcycles has upped its game with the new 2020 SR/F electric bike, the latest model in the company’s lineup of battery-powered motorcycles. The SR/F is the most powerful entry yet for the California-based company, which has been making electric motorcycles since 2006.

Both the standard and premium versions of the SR/F deliver a whopping 140 lb-ft of torque and 110 horsepower thanks to a new ZF75-10 motor powered by a ZF14.4 lithium-ion battery. It has a top speed of 124 mph and can travel 161 miles in the city and 99 on the highway on a single charge; Zero’s optional Power Tank accessory, available this fall, boosts the range to 200 miles.

With the new Rapid Charge System option, the bike can be set up for 3 kW, 6 kW, 9 kW, or 12 kW of charging at standard Level 2 charging stations. On the premium model, the system can recharge the battery pack to 95 percent capacity in one hour, if you take advantage of three separate charging modules. Without the Rapid Charge, a full charge takes 2.5 to 4.5 hours.

The SR/F has Zero’s new Cypher III operating system and Bosch’s Motorcycle Stability Control, a combination that results in excellent straight-line ABS and cornering brake control, traction control, and drag torque control. There are various ride modes: Street, Sport, Eco, Rain, and 10 programmable custom modes.

Zero calls the SR/F “the world’s first fully ‘smart’ motorcycle.” The motorcycle is connected through cellular networks. With the Cypher III system monitoring all bike functions, a customizable dash, and Zero’s next-generation app, critical information can be communicated at all times. The SR/F transmits to the app constantly, so ride information, location, and current bike status are always available. The rider is able to monitor charging status, bike status and alerts, ride data sharing, system upgrades, and updates.
A key difference between the premium and standard models is the charger type and charging time. The MSRP for a standard 2020 Zero SR/F with a 3kW Rapid Charger is $18,995; the premium model, with a 6kW Rapid Charger, fly screen, heated hand grips, and aluminum bar ends, is $20,995.
