2018 Motorcycle Events

Americade in Lake George, NY, June 4-9
“The world’s largest touring rally” has 50,000 attendees annually. It’s a family event with plenty of scenic riding, from solo to group, boat cruises, and a ton of activities to ensure that you’ll have to prioritize the list of things you want to do. At the same time and from the same organizers, you can also play in the dirt at the Dirt Daze Rally just down the street. The highlights of both events are the demo rides and the camaraderie. www.americade.com

Ride Your Motorcycle to Work Day, June 18
What are you doing that day? Your answer better be “riding to work!” www.ridetowork.org

Sturgis Kentucky Bike Rally, July 19-22
The other Sturgis shindig. Where the Americade is family fun and stuffed animals, the Sturgis Kentucky event is burn-outs and skin. Still, motorcycles are the common ground, and it’s sure to be one heck of a party. www.kentuckybikerally.com

RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend,
August 9-12
Our very own riding event in memory of the magazine’s founder, Christian Neuhauser, when 300-400 riders will meet in beautiful Roanoke to ride the roads of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. Seminars and guest speakers provide insight and entertainment in the evening. But the whole point of the event is to meet up and ride together. www.touring-weekend.com

Harley-Davidson 115th Anniversary Celebration, Aug 29 – Sept 2
Don’t miss the excitement in Milwaukee over Labor Day weekend. Arrive in style by joining one of the routes leading to the event originating in either San Diego, Seattle, Portland, or Fort Lauderdale. Check online for the full event schedule and to purchase the Rally Pack which is a bag full of 115th Anniversary swag.

Wing Ding 40,
August 28 – September 1
Hosted by the GWRRA, the 40th Wing Ding motorcycle convention will be held in Knoxville, TN. Primarily a Gold Wing event (although all brands are welcome), the Wing Ding is part trade show, demo rides, and touring the surrounding area. With the new Gold Wing out, this is a prime opportunity to demo one. Register at www.wing-ding.org.

Bikes, Blues, and BBQ,
September 26-29
The name says it all. The annual family friendly rally, held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, has raised over $1.75 million for local charities over the course of 18 years. If you’ve never experienced the Ozarks, come with your bike, listen to the blues, and get your fill of BBQ. www.bikesbluesandbbq.org

Biketoberfest, October 18-21
While Daytona Bike week in March is seen as the season opener for riding, Biketoberfest could be considered the closing party. Same location but a little shorter, with racing events in that Florida sunshine. www.daytonabeach.com/biketoberfest
