Organized Tours Around the World

Rolling Thru America: Rolling Thru Maine
The sister company to Americade, the touring rally held in Lake George, NY, each June, Rolling Thru America specializes in motorcycle tours to destinations in the Northeast and Canada. Registration is open for their 2018 Rolling Thru Maine (9/26-9/29) weekend tour, limited to 85 riders. Participants bring their own motorcycle and for the planned tour receive a route map along with a special gift. Riders may choose to ride in small groups or alone, but rest assured the evenings at the hotels provide great camaraderie. Meals are included in the package price. Details at

EagleRider: Coast to Desert Adventure
The go-to company for multi-brand motorcycle rentals since 1992, EagleRider also operates many national and international tours. Not all are guided, though, with self-guided tours offering the best of both worlds—everything is planned for you and you can travel at your own pace. One notable trip combines some of the best destinations in the Sierra Nevada Mountains: The Coast to Desert Adventure Motorcycle Tour, a self-guided ride over coastal, mountain, and desert roads, roaming north from San Francisco and ending nine days on in Las Vegas. Bookings available throughout the fall, spring, and summer.

RoadRUNNER’s very own full-service touring operator, Blue Rim Tours provides guided-tour packages to various sites in Europe, Peru, and most recently in the U.S., with its Mid-Atlantic Civil War Tour. This tour focuses more on our nation’s history than chasing the curves, although there’s no shortage of lean angles on this tour. Some of the best riding roads in the mid-Atlantic region connect important historical sites, which are narrated by our in-house historian and tour guide, Jim Parks. Be ready to learn. Eight riding days along scenic byways to battlefields and other pivotal sites (9/21-9/30).

Compass Expeditions: Kyrgyzstan Explorer
Adventure is the focus of this Australian tour company running 25 annual tours in 36 countries, and also handling rentals and customized trips. Their rugged Kyrgyzstan Tour is a 14-day trip on Central Asia’s legendary Silk Road (7/4-7/19), and it caught our attention when an editorial submission with captivating photos came across our desk. Most who have taken international organized tours probably visited the more well-known countries and mountain ranges, but not many have experienced the adventure of a motorcycle ride through this central Asian country wedged between Kazakhstan and China, a largely untouched natural landscape. This tour mainly travels gravel roads.

Women’s Motorcycle Tours: High Peaks and Hot Springs
Managed by women for women, Women’s Motorcycle Tours offers on- and off-road excursions in the US and select international destinations, ranging from one- to 15-day tours. The High Peaks and Hot Springs Tour (7/22-7/29) takes in the Colorado backcountry on dual-sport bikes. Led by guides with many years of experience as guides, MSF instructors, and world travelers, participants will especially revel in the shared experiences among fellow women riders.

MotoQuest: THE Golden Triangle
Begun in 1998 as a regional rental and tour enterprise in Alaska, MotoQuest now conducts tours throughout the year in 20 countries. Their Thailand & Laos Golden Triangle tour covers 14 days and 1750 miles of guided, paved travel beginning along the Mekong River (11/4-11/17). Specialists in organized motorcycle travel, MotoQuest’s Asian expedition is led by co-owner and tour guide Brenden Anders. A support vehicle follows the tour and for extra safety, every guest is enrolled in Global Rescue. The highlight of this tour is the famous Mae Hong Son loop featuring 1,864 curves. We didn’t count, but you’re welcome to confirm or correct that total.
