This series of state and U.S. routes in California and Oregon take riders through a dramatic Pacific Northwest landscape, punctuated with towering volcanic peaks. Riders will see the result of massive geologic forces, which have been actively shaping the West since ancient times.

Scenery: Dramatic volcanic landscape, sparkling mountain lakes, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking mountain vistas

Curves: Tight curves are found around Crater Lake National Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park

Points of Interest: Of particular note are:

  • Crater Lake National Park
  • Klamath Lake
  • Lava Beds National Monument
  • Mount Shasta
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park

Traffic: Can be heavy during peak tourist season in national parks

Distance: Approximately 500 to 560 miles (including some doubling back), one-way

Time Required: 3 to 5 days, depending on number and duration of stops

Technical Difficulty: Riders preferably should have some experience touring long distances and riding in mountainous terrain.
