2015 Yamaha TMAX: A Sporty Scooter?Yamaha calls the all new 2015 TMAX the “sportbike of scooters”—a title we’ll withhold judgment on until we get a chance to ride it—though a glance at the spec sheet seems promising. The TMAX is powered by a completely new 530cc liquid cooled and fuel injected twin, which according to Yamaha is optimized for both fuel economy and good acceleration. The TMAX gets its “sportbike” credentials from features like 41mm upside down forks, diecast aluminum frame, and radially mounted front brake calipers—unusual parts to find on a scooter. But a scooter it is, as a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) makes shifting gears both unnecessary and impossible.

Other interesting features include LED headlights and a Smartkey system, which allows push button starting and can remotely lock the handlebars. The scoot also boasts updated styling, newly designed front cowl, fenders, mirrors, and instrument panel.

The TMAX will soon arrive on showroom floors in Sonic Gray for $10,490.
