2015 Ducati Multistrada 1200: DVT UpgradeThe biggest update to the 2015 Multistrada is, at least according to Ducati, a first for the motorcycle industry—variable valve timing with independent exhaust and intake camshafts. Ducati calls it Desmodronic Variable Timing (DVT), and the company says it optimizes the engine’s power delivery with better throttle response across the entire rev range, enhanced low end torque, and more high end horsepower—all with better fuel economy. The numbers for the new DVT engine are 160 horsepower and 100 pound feet of torque, a marked improvement over the previous model.

DVT isn’t the only new feature on the 2015 MTS; the bike also gets the Inertial Measurement Unit found on the Panigale, which measures roll, yaw, and pitch angles and rates. The information is then fed into the ABS system to improve safety when braking in corners. On the S model the IMU controls the new LED cornering lights and Ducati Wheelie Control, as well as the Ducati Skyhook Suspension system. The Multistrada S also gets a Bluetooth equipped multimedia system that can pair with a special Ducati app for iOS or Android phones.

The new Multistrada also gets cruise control standard. U.S. pricing and availability have not been released.
