BMW Sells Husqvarna

Citing its desire to refocus its business on urban mobility and e-mobility, BMW Motorrad has announced the sale of its subsidiary, Husqvarna Motorcycles, to the Austrian firm Pierer Industrie AG. The deal is a somewhat confusing resolution to rumors of KTM’s impending acquisition of the Swedish motorcycle maker, as it turns out, Pierer Industries AG is actually the personal company of KTM’s CEO Stefan Pierer. This means that Husqvarna and KTM will technically remain completely separate companies. However, how the two brands will coexist in the future remains to be seen even as the deal pends approval from anti-trust authorities. Purchase price and terms of the deal were not disclosed. What are your thoughts?
