Frontier GORE-TEX® Jacket and Pants

The Frontier GORE-TEX® jacket and pants are definitely a year-round, all-weather outfit. The jacket is a fascinating piece of good engineering as well as a trendy design. It is nicely organized, with a complex yet well-thought-out system of removable liners, multiple air-flow panels and vents, pockets, chambers, flaps, zippers, elbow and shoulder protectors, and more. For cold or wet weather, the GORE-TEX SoftShell liner is 100 percent waterproof, and the quilted thermal liner adds extra warmth. For hot days, there is a very large rear panel and two large chest panels that can be folded and tucked away nicely into the jacket. For all of the benefits, the lightweight, front full-length zipper is not easy to catch and isn’t the best match for the jacket; a heavy-duty zipper would be preferable. The nine pockets are conveniently placed, and the jacket connects to the Frontier GORE-TEX pants with a zipper that goes from the left side hip to the right around the back; it holds the pants in place for a more comfortable feeling on long rides.

The pants also provide excellent protection from the elements; like the jacket, it has two liners and a strategically placed ventilation system. The pants fit well through the legs and seat, but the fly and waist areas are too loose, and the elastic waist adjusters are not enough to hold the pants tight. I use a belt to solve the problem. Overall, the Frontier GORE-TEX jacket and pants are an elegant, relaxed and comfortable riding outfit that keeps a rider well protected from the elements for a great ride.
