Motorcycle Thefts Down 24 Percent Since 2007

The National Insurance Crime Bureau reports that during 2007, 65,678 motorcycles were stolen; in 2010, that dropped to 49,791, a 24 percent decrease. During 2010, 12,260 Hondas were stolen; Yamaha was the next most-pilfered brand, followed by Suzuki, Kawasaki and then Harley-Davidson. California had the most motorcycles stolen in 2010, at 5,662, followed by Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Indiana. These states accounted for 37.7 percent of all motorcycle thefts in the United States.
