The snow-capped coastal ranges that soar straight out of the Pacific have earned British Columbia the accolade "Sea-to-sky country." Between the fjord-carved coast and the Rocky Mountains lies a magnificent landscape of rugged mountains, dense forests, crystalline rivers - and twisting ribbons of tarmac.
RoadRUNNER's 12-day motorcycle tour explores the most exciting (and most scenic) motorcycling roads in southern British Columbia, between the Pacific Coast and the Rocky Mountains.
From Vancouver, we'll ride the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler Resort, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, then travel over the Coast Range and along the Fraser Canyon to the orchards of the Okanagan Valley. More mountain roads will take us into the Kootenay region and its spectacular scenery of dark-forested valleys, glacier-topped mountains and pristine lakes. We'll ride on to the Rocky Mountain resorts of Banff and Lake Louise, and into the Columbia Icefields. We'll follow the route of the Canadian Pacific railroad over Kicking Horse Pass and Rogers Pass to Revelstoke and venture into the wine-country capital of Kelowna. We'll pause overnight to refresh at Harrison Hot Springs before tracking the mighty Fraser River back to Vancouver.
Along the way, we'll visit a heritage silver mining town, taste award-winning wines, and discover the source of the Columbia River. We'll take the longest free ferry ride in North America, lunch on wild mushrooms, and ride through five National Parks.
