Harley-Davidson rumbles into town with 32 different models on six platforms for 2012. The number of models that come standard with the bigger Twin Cam 103 engine is expanded to all Touring and Softail® series, all but the two least-expensive Dyna® models: Super Glide® Custom and Street Bob®.

Each year Harley-Davidson®, the iconic American motorcycle-maker, shows off its best and brightest parts, accessories and paint by creating a collection of motorcycles branded with the CVO™ (Custom Vehicle Operations) moniker. This run of limited-production bikes is packed with more than hand-painted bodywork, hoards of chrome, and exclusive new parts and accessories. These CVO bikes have it all: power locks, iPod integration and inclusion, and one model even has an eight-speaker stereo system with 400 watts of audio power.

When the Motor Company introduced the Road Glide Ultra as a new model for 2011, and we had a short ride on it at the latest model introduction, I knew it deserved a full test. By combining the regular Road Glide with the large Tour Pack trunk used on the Electra Glide Ultra, it created a comfortable touring model with a frame-mounted fairing that aids stability and blocks the harsh winds of highway travel.

For 2011, The Motor Company has introduced three exciting new models: the Road Glide® Ultra, plus a pair of Sportsters®, the SuperLow™, and XR1200X™. Harley's lineup now boasts 32 models, including long-haul touring machines, urban brawlers, contemporary customs, retro-style bobbers, sport roadsters, and standards. As mentioned in the October issue, Harley's Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) also offers four premium limited-production motorcycles for 2011. RoadRUNNER had a wonderful opportunity to sample all of the new regular-line models in Oregon during a day-long ride from Portland to the coast and back, over a delicious mix of highways and byways.

Battling a tough recession, Harley-Davidson unveiled its new lineup in Denver recently with some exciting changes.
