Guided and Unguided Touring: 2011 Touring Weekend Attendees may choose to ride in either an unguided or guided riding group. Those participating in the unguided tours will receive detailed maps and are encouraged to enjoy these great roads at their own pace. Lunch at a predetermined and easy to find location is included for all participants, whether riding alone or in a guided group.
For safety reasons, we will limit the number of participants accepted in our guided groups. If you wish to ride with one of the RoadRUNNER staff members, be sure to sign up early, as those spots will fill up quickly. Register here
Although everyone who attends the RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend loves to ride, not all of us are likely to have the same pace or style of riding. This year, we’re offering three distinct guided touring options. Please indicate which group you’d like to join when you register.
Sport Touring: This group will ride through the route’s curves at a brisk pace, while still maintaining the speed limit. Those that like running at a more challenging velocity will enjoy being a part of the Sport Touring set.
Leisure Touring: This group will ride at a slightly less challenging level than the Sport Touring riders, but the pace will still demand attention when pushing through curves. Those of you who enjoy a moderate pace will appreciate the Leisure Touring set.
NEW for 2011: Cruising: This group will go at a slower pace than the other two sets and may also make more frequent stops. New riders, those that are inexperienced with riding in large assemblies, and those who enjoy taking their time will appreciate the Cruising group.
Plenty of stops, photo-ops, and leg stretching will be on the itinerary for all guided groups.

Back Again in 2011: Stayin’ Safe Advanced Rider Training on Thursday July 14, 2011
Stayin’ Safe, will be conducting a limited number of 4-hour Stayin’ Safe Mini Sessions on Thursday, July 14th to help kick off the 2011 RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend. Stayin’ Safe senior instructors Eric Trow and Pete Tamblyn will introduce key Stayin’ Safe principles in real-time via in-helmet radio communication. Participants will improve their ability to read the road, select optimum speed and lane position for any given situation, and increase safety margins, all while enhancing their enjoyment of cornering. It’s an effective and fun way to take riding to a higher level. A limited number of slots are available at $225 per motorcycle. Reserve your spot early at www.stayinsafe.com or call (724) 771-2269.
Motorcycle Rental: If you’re flying into Knoxville or Asheville, SportBikes4Hire has some fun machines for you. They can also transport them to you depending on distance. If you’re flying into DC, there are some motorcycle rentals available through Eaglerider or AdMo-Tours. Please contact them for availability and rates.

Unfortunately due to limited group size, on-site registrants are not guaranteed space in any of the Guided Touring groups. Also if you decide to sign up at the hotel, please expect to pay an additional $20 per day for late registration. Registering before the event helps our staff plan and prepare for the event accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.
