Victory Heads to the Strip

Victory Heads to the StripNo, not the one in Vegas—Victory Motorcycles is heading to the drag strip. The company recently announced the creation of the Victory NHRA Pro Stock Factory Racing Team. Two-time world Champion Matt Smith (his latest championship coming in 2013) and his wife and co-rider Angie will lead the team, which will compete on matte gray race bikes designed to emulate the company’s Gunner motorcycle (though, of course, the only thing they really have in common is color).

The Victory Pro Stock Team will begin competition on March 13th at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL. Victory looks to go head to head with the likes of Harley-Davidson while honing their technical skills. As Polaris’ Vice President of Motorcycles Steve Mennetto says, “Victory is excited to enter the world of NHRA Pro Stock Drag Racing. It is Victory’s intent to continue to test ourselves at the highest levels, and the Victory Factory Racing Team is the perfect opportunity for us.”

Do you follow NHRA Drag Racing? What motorsports do you follow? Will you be rooting for Victory in their rookie season?
