CSC RX-3 Cyclone: The $3,000 ADV Bike

CSC RX-3 Cyclone: The $3,000 ADV BikeYes, it’s made in China. So are a lot of things. Does that mean it’s value priced and built cheaply? Well the jury’s still out on the build quality, but the price sure is right.

The “it” we’re talking about is the RX-3 Cyclone. Its current price is only $2,895 for bikes in the first shipment, after that the cost goes up to $3,495. So how much motorcycle do you get for so little money? The RX-3 is powered by a 250cc liquid cooled, fuel injected single cylinder engine CSC RX-3 Cyclone: The $3,000 ADV Bikeproducing around 25 horsepower. The bike weighs around 386 pounds (no word on whether that weight is wet or dry), comes with spoke wheels, and has a 31.3-inch seat height—all of which sounds great for a small ADV bike. Its spec sheet and features list seem almost too good to be true: six-speed transmission, disc brakes, adjustable suspension, included luggage, LED lights, and more. Yet specifics are a bit lacking. Also, it’s clear that the spec sheet’s author most likely isn’t a native English speaker with terms like “humanized windshield” and “luxury police accessories,” obviously something got lost in translation. Other claims seem a bit dubious such as the “Italian leather seat cushion” and “Multifunctional USB interface.” My personal favorite, though, is the “floral brake discs with large diameter” (I’m guessing they mean petal style discs).

Still, we have to admit that this bike looks like a heck of a lot of fun for the price. In fact, we really wish that the small displacement ADV bike category would start to see the same kind of competition and innovation as the big boys one day. The RX-3 does come with a one year warranty, and if you want to get in on the introductory price head over to www.californiascooterco.com.
